Hi there. I'm looking for ideas on what people do to assess speaking skills. |

For Year 7, we get the students onto Voki. It’s great. They create an avatar and then record their self-introductions (www.voki.com) Students are placed in pairs and their assigned dialogue is presented in front of a webcam. This allows the class to complete the task at the same time. I get to mark their dialogue and still see them. Students are given a set of questions to prepare answers for. On the assessment day, they are presented with a number of them and record their responses. Alternatively, they have a one-on-one conversation with the teacher. A stimulus picture is presented and without writing notes, students record a commentary on it. Eg Che cosa ha fatto il ragazzo durante le vacanze? Voicethread is great for commentary on images. www.voicethread.com A pair dialogue presentation in front of the class or a recount with accompanying images |
