The NSW Department of Education and Communities (DEC) workshop will have a combined general session with Indonesian and then Italian specific.

ILTA Dance

The ILTA dance was held on Friday 26th July at Five Dock RSL.  Over 200 students of Italian from twelve schools attended. It was a successful and enjoyable evening with some of the old Italian favourites proving popular. The Italian version of Gangnam Style was also a hit! Many thanks to DJ Castiglione.

Italian Teachers Conference

In September over 60 teachers of Italian K-12 attended the Italian Teachers' conference held at Ryde State Office. Teachers travelled from Lismore, Griffith, Dubbo, Wollongong and Kiama to participate in the workshop. It was also an opportunity for teachers to be updated on developments as well as to network with colleagues and exchange ideas on the teaching and learning of Italian. The key note address was: The state of Italian by Matthew Absalom, President AFMLTA, Lecturer in Italian, University of Melbourne. There was also a presentation on Dialects of Italy: Continuity and Revitalisation by Dr Antonia Rubino, Senior Lecturer and Chair Department of Italian Studies, University of Sydney. Parallel sessions were presented about K-6 classroom ,The bilingual model in action by Silvia Onorati  and Anna Sharpe IBS; Flipped classroom by Celinda Corsini, MLC; Technology in the Italian classroom by Domenica Mufale, CLIC; and New Resources by Mark Adams, Intext. Co.As.It and ENIT and Intext provided an excellent display of materials for teachers. Language Perfect was by represented by Kate Lawrence.
